A Retrospective Analysis of the Patterns and Outcomes of Tile B and Tile C Pelvic Fractures in Cameroon

Background: Pelvic fractures constitute about 2% - 8% of all fractures. This incidence may rise up to 25% in poly-traumatised patients. These have a high mortality rate due the fact that they occur usually as result energy trauma, and most injured are with concomitant haemodynamic instability. The aim this study is describe patterns injury complications unstable pelvic treated level III hospital Cameroon. Methodology: was based retrospective analysis files patients admitted for at Regional Hospital Limbe within period 10 years (from 1st January 2009 31st December 2018). Results: A total 139 cases were identified, amongst which 77 unstable; 68 finally analyzed. ages ranged from 18 80 mean 39 ± 5 years. age group 20 40 represented (58.88%, n = 40). There 45 males 23 females giving sex-ratio 2:1. Road traffic injuries accounted (73.53%, 50). Forty-five (66.2%) classified Tile B (33.82%) C, 15 open (22.06%). Associated lesions recorded 30 cases, lower extremity being common (33.33%, 10). Most definitively surgically (80.89%, 55). surgical site infections (23.64%, 13). Conclusion: Unstable relatively common. Young affected, cause road accident. Surgical infections, pressure ulcers, severe anaemia thrombo-embolism complications.
